The old Rheingau grapevines lend depth and full aromas to this gently dry Riesling. Fresh, succulent, with a smooth finish.

In the Mundus Vini Summer Tasting our 2022 Blattgold Riesling Alte Reben was awarded silver! Yellow fruits and citrus on the nose. Floral notes and a touch of warm spice, underlined with a distinctive minerality. A well-balanced Rheingau Riesling.

Once again we are proud of our Vinum stars! Our Riesling from Old Vines and our Oestricher Klosterberg have garnered particular praise.

We proudly don our Falstaff Star. Oestricher Klosterberg has been graded "top class in this year´s collection." Yet the "winner of the hearts" goes to the Riesling Alte Reben: "supple, compact and well balanced". Thank you Falstaff!

A Star and a half in Vinum 2022. We are excited to be moving up the ranks! This years favorite: Oestricher Klosterberg, showing "spiced apple, succulence and an underlying acidity." Our first vintage Sauvignon Blanc has also received praised.

So proud to be a part of the new Gault&Millau Wine Guide Rheinhessen, Rheingau & Mittelrhein this year! And we’ve started off with two red grapes, a sign that we are on the rise! “Mouthwatering”, “playful and velvety” and “dangerously good” say the Gault&Millau tasters.

2019 Das Ist...Rheingau Riesling takes home GOLD in the Berlin Wine Trophy tasting!

Yet again the winery has joined the ranks in a noted wine guide. And we are very proud of our first star! The 2018 Doosberg was given 91 points straight of the bat, and a promising ageing potential. Among others, our 2018 Gentleman was once again praised, this time for his “sophisticated yet unpretentious character”.

Once again we are thrilled to be included in Vinums Wine Guide 2020. The wines are described as ranging from expressions of yellow fruits to the exotic, showing depth and charm, solid structure and good ageing potential.

This SILVER award for the 2018 "This is...Rheingau Riesling" shows that this wine, like the name promises, is a true paradigm for the taste of Riesling in our winegrowing region.
This year two other wines were higly praised by Mundus Vini. Our 2018 Mittelheim Edelmann Riesling dry took away 87 points, and the 2018 Quarzit Riesling dry followed close at its heels with 86 points.

And Gold for the 2018 "Das ist...Rheingau Riesling". We are indeed very pleased with the results!

Straight to "Best Buy" at 89 points, our 2018 Gentleman was praised again, this time as a "complete Rheingau Riesling" just perfect for mealtime enjoyment. And then, our 2018 Alte Reben (Old Vines) Riesling was awarded 90 points, joining the ranks of the "Top Value" wines. Lovely!

Agreeable and charming indeed, and a bit proud as well, our 2018 Gentleman was awarded 86 points in this tasting.

Two wines tried and tested. We are very pleased with the 86 points for our 2018 Quarzit and 87 points for our 2018 Mittelheimer Edelmann!

The Feinschmecker praises the consistency of our collection in the newly published wine guide 2018/2019. We are very pleased indeed!

The current Vinum wine guide, our winery is repeatedly awarded. We are particularly proud of our new wines, the Riesling Quarzit and the Oestricher Riesling, both of which are highlighted. They are described as follows: "The "Quarzit" officially represents the estate wine, which is a clear understatement of the quality shown. It is puristically clear with cool style and animating acidity.The Oestricher shows again a beautiful spiciness with good tension and substance, creamy on the palate".

With the two 2017 Rieslings "Quarzit" and "Oestrich" we have complemented our assortment this year. Today we received the first reviews for both wines. The online portal Wein-Plus.de rated both wines with 86 points and thus with the grade "very good".

The Riesling "Quarzit" shows a "slightly floral stone- and pome-fruit scent with notes of candied citrus fruit and a certain minerality in the background". The juicy fruit is straightforward underlayed with nutty-yeasty and delicate herbal tones, the acidity alive. The grip of ripe tannins ensures good sustainability and in the good to very good finish with "sweet candy tones" but also a tart and an earthy-salty minerality" as well as "a hint of tobacco".

The "Oestrich Riesling" is characterized by a "light earthy, nutty and slightly yellow-spicy nose". Yellow fruits are accompanied by floral and vegetal notes, whereby the fruit does not look quite dry, again vegetable, nutty and delicately yellow-spicy notes. The acid is fine, the tannins are mellow. The wine has substance and sustainability and has a mineral aftertaste. The finish is very good, juicy and shows grip.

We appreciate these reviews. Especially, as it is about two new wines, with which we go new ways for our winery!

Also at the Berlin Wine Trophy, the wines submitted by us again won medals. Our "Das ist... Rheingau Riesling" achieved a Gold medal!

For the first time this year we took part in the Frankfurt Trophy, where we earned a gold medal as well with our "Das ist...Rheingau Riesling".

The jury of the new Vinum WineGuide rated our winery in the current Edition of the Guide with one star. Especially we are proud of the rating for our Gentleman Riesling (86 pts) and for our Oestrich Lenchen Riesling, which recieved 85 pts and so it is current the 6th best wine in the categorie of wines, which are bottled in 1-ltr.-bottles.

This year, we took part the firt time at the Wine Guide of the Feinschmecker Magazine - an important magazine for connoisseurs of wine, food and all the other beautiful things that make your life worth living. We are proud, that our winery is one of eleven new wineries in Germany, which were mentioned this year the first time. So we are one of the best wineries in Germany!

Our 2016 vintage got even more great Ratings this month!

At the Decanter World Wine Awards 2017 we participated with our two dry Riesling wines, the new "Gentleman Riesling" and the classic of our winery, the "Mittelheimer Edelmann trocken".

The "Gentleman" got 90 Points, the "Edelmann" got 88 Points.

Last month our wines were awarded at the "Global Riesling Masters" competition by the drinks business.

In the category "Medium Dry Riesling 15-20 Pound Sterlin" (wines with more than 4g/l residual sugar) our 2015 Mittelheimer Edelmann Trocken was awarded bronze and the 2014 Riesling Venture was awarded silver!

Sustainability is very important for us as a family-run business.

Because of this we have certified our winery as early as 2008. Now, in December of 2016 we have been re-certified by Eco Step for our integrated managementsystem for Quality Control, how we deal with our environment and our employees as well as for food safety.

Weingut Bernhard Mehrlein is certified by Eco Step for ISO-Standards 9001, 14001, 18001 and 22000.

After a busy 2016 and a succesful harvest season, we are now starting to plan 2017. Doing so we decided to be present in Düsseldorf at the ProWein 2017 with an exhibition booth to meet with customers/partners and meet new contacts.

In June 2016 our international marketing activities generated a new success. The primarly in Austria know wein.pur magazine awarded our 2015 Rheingau Riesling trocken / Mittelheimer Edelmann with 3 glases / very good.

This typical Rheingau wine is due to his well balanced Riesling acidity and fresh citrus aromas a very good food companion for light summer dishes (e.g. fish).

In the last weeks all 2015 vintage wines were bottled and are meanwhile available for sale. Traditionally the finale for the vintage was marked by the Red- and summer Rosé wines, so that we are now able to offer a very good vintage to our customers.

Besides we a grateful to announce the first award for our 2015 vintage.
Our Rheingau Riesling trocken was awarded with "3 Star / 87 Points" in a blind tasting end of April by the Magazine "Selection".
We are proud of this award and happy to serve our customers in the current asparagus season, with this fresh and tasty wine.

In April 2016 we received in the United Kingdom the award to be among the "Top 50 Wines of Germany", which will help us to push the focused international sales, especially in the United Kingdom. Our Rheingau Riesling trocken -Mittelheimer Edelmann - delights for years many Riesling friends around the globe and is the flagship wine among the everyday wines of our winery. Therefore we are grateful, that we were able to convince the jury in the United Kingdom of our work and look forward to many exports to the United Kingdom.

In March 2016 we recieved our 3 Star certificate by the "Selection" magazine for our 2014 0,75l Rheingau Riesling CLASSIC. We are proud that the wine convinced the jury in a tasting in January and look forward to the sales start of the 2015 0,75l Rheingau Riesling CLASSIC on March 21st 2016.

Also this years „Mundus Vini“ wine challenge was a good stage for Mehrlein wines. Three wines where awarded with silver medals: (2015 Rheingau Riesling QbA dry, 2015 Hallgartener Mehrhölzchen Riesling Kabinett dry Prädikatswein Rheingau, 2015 Mittelheimer Edelmann Riesling Q.b.A. dry Rheingau). This is especially remarkable for an available amount of 110.000 bottles of these wines.

Thorsten Mehrlein’s focussed marketing activities after takeover of his father’s winery in 2015 has reached a new success. Therefore we are proud to announce that Lufthansa German Airline is serving an exclusively produced wine to their Business Class customers since January 1st 2016. In this way we are able to reach new Riesling friends around the globe until end of February and have again proven our outstanding quality.

Also a wine challenge of Wein-Plus was a success for two of our wines. In November/December our "Riesling trocken/dry" and our "Riesling CLASSIC" were awarded. This is expressed here with 83 points for the "Riesling trocken/dry" while the "Riesling CLASSIC" gained 81 points.

This years regional wine and sparkling wine challenge in October 2015 was a big success for our winery. Five out of five wines were decorated (2014 Johannisberger Erntebringer Riesling QbA semi-dry, 2014 Mittelheimer Edelmann Riesling QbA dry, 2014 Rauenthaler Steinmächer Riesling QbA semi-dry, 2014 Oestricher Lenchen Riesling QbA, 2014 Rauenthaler Steinmächer Riesling QbA dry). We were awarded with four gold and one silver medal.

This years „Mundus Vini“ wine challenge was a good stage for Mehrlein wines. Three wines where awarded with silver medals: (2014 Riesling QbA dry, 2014 Mehrlein Riesling dry, 2014 Mittelheimer Edelmann Riesling dry). This is especially remarkable for an available amount of 360.000 bottles of these wines.
